The 4 Luxury Textiles Guaranteed to Elevate Your Home

Whether you are spending a lot to decorate a room, or only splurging on a few pieces in your space, there are a few textiles that you may want to consider to elevate the look in your home. While they are not essential for living, they sure can help to make your room look more cozy and expensive.

#1: Touchable, Elegant & Vibrant Velvet Pieces

Awww, velvet! It feels luxurious, is available in many cozy colors, and can be very pet-friendly. Velvet pillow covers add comfort as well as a luxury look in any room. Some covers can usually can be removed and machine-washed which is super smart. Velvet drapes feel expensive, hang nicely due to their weight, and can be really elegant in a bedroom or living room, making the space feel extra-cozy. They also block a lot of light when needed.

#2: Fresh, Crisp & Layered Linen Accents

Another luxe textile is linen. My favorite way to use linen is in drapery, some bedding, and table linens. White or off-white linen drapery panels add a soft, relaxed feel that still looks crisp and elegant. They are also lightweight so they can be hung on a simple rod in any room. Linen accents on a dining table, such as napkins and table runners, add layers of texture to a table without making it feel too formal and stuffy. Duvet covers and pillow shams in linen add a rich, soft texture that beckons you to relax and unwind.

#3: Sophisticated, Durable & Luxe Leather Pieces

Leather is a versatile textile that really elevates a space. It looks high-end, ages really well, and can add lots of warmth and practicality to a room. Consider accent chairs, ottomans, stools, or even a bench in a high-quality leather. Expect to pay more for leather, but know that it will last a long time, and it's easy to keep clean. Word to the Wise: Bonded leather is not a luxury "leather." It will peel over time and be a waste of money. Big box stores are known to frequently sell furniture in bonded leather. Avoid this at all costs!

#4: Comfortable, Soft & Warm Wool Accents

Here in Texas, I don't recommend wool very often, but it sure can be soft, comfortable, and cozy, especially in winter. Wool rugs are amazing though, and accents such as blankets and pillows really create a luxurious feel in a room, especially during the fall and winter holidays. If a cocoon-vibe is what you're going for, be sure to include some wool accents in your room.

These luxury textiles can elevate the look in almost every room, no matter your home style or design preference. Consider these your investment pieces that can really pull the room together. In my own designs, I choose these textiles mostly for drapery, pillows, and blankets. Leather is my go-to for chairs, benches, and sometimes ottomans as accents. Mix and match your textiles to create a curated look!
