3 Expert Tips for Staging an On-Trend, Timeless Bathroom or Powder Room
Does your bathroom feel like a relaxed, luxury hotel bath? Whether you are just looking to give yourself more care or looking to sell your house, a bathroom that is beautifully decorated is a treat.
Tip #1: Don't Proceed Without a Deep Clean
I have seen many bathrooms in my seven years of home staging. The majority of them need help. The bathrooms (and kitchen) are the areas of the home that need to be squeaky-clean. Clear shower glass, clean tile and grout, polished faucets, dusted light fixtures, and clear countertops are a good start to ensure that this room will feel like a retreat.
Tip #2: Do Make Minor Cosmetic Updates
Sometimes a bathroom needs a refresh to look its best. Outdated lighting, countertops, or cabinet hardware may need to be replaced. The vanity may need to be re-stained or painted to look its best. If the vent or ceiling lights have rusted or yellowed, they should be replaced. A fresh color of paint may be necessary to brighten things up. Very seldom does a bathroom need a total remodel, so work with what you have.
Tip #3: Do Create an Appealing Atmosphere
After all of the cleaning and repairs, it's time to bring in the spa-look and feel. Freshly folded hand and bath towels look amazing (especially white). A medium/large plant in the middle of the vanity and a small piece of artwork are all you really need to decorate the space. If you are selling, don't even put bath rugs on the floor. Hotel bathrooms never have rugs on the floor - think about it. A few bath salts and a candle can rest on the tub ledge if you have room. Oh, and what about the toiletries? Hide them in a carrier under the sink if you are selling so buyers won't see those personal items.
Keeping all of these things in mind will help you create a dreamy bathroom. Need help with staging your bathroom? I'm here for you!
